5 Highlights of the Smeg Carbonator
Why is the Smeg water carbonator the right choice for sparkling water at home? We'll give you five good reasons and the biggest highlights of this 1950s-retro-style carbonator.
✨ Individually adjustable carbonation
The central rotary knob allows you to continuously adjust the carbonation level of the Smeg water carbonator – from gently sparkling to intensely fizzy. Always according to your personal taste.
✨ Works without electricity
The SMEG carbonator operates manually and requires no power connection. This makes it flexible to use and position, even without a power outlet. It's also ideal for outdoor use on a bar cart or patio.
✨ Sustainable alternative to plastic bottles
Not only is the technology itself a good, sustainable alternative to sparkling water in plastic bottles. The included bottle made of Tritan™ Renew is also sustainable. It is BPA-free, dishwasher-safe, and made from 50% recycled material. The base and cap are made of robust stainless steel, making it durable and shatterproof.
✨ Compatible with many CO₂ cylinders
The Smeg carbonator is compatible with standard CO₂ screw-in cylinders (400–425 g/60–80 L), which is one of its greatest advantages over other carbonators. The CO₂ cylinder is not included but can easily be purchased separately.
✨ Practical Details
In addition to the sparkling water function, the Smeg SKRC01 offers other practical details! For example, the magnetically attached drip tray keeps the countertop clean. Non-slip silicone feet on the appliance ensure stability.
That's why your kitchen needs the Smeg water carbonator, too
The Smeg water carbonator sets a stance against single-use plastic and conserves resources. By using tap water and reusable bottles, it not only reduces plastic waste but also the lugging of heavy beverage crates. The high-quality workmanship and timeless design make it a long-lasting companion in everyday life. With its iconic 50s style, the Smeg sparkling water maker fits perfectly into modern kitchens and lends them a beautiful retro charm. Rounded shapes and expressive colors make it an absolute statement.
Sparkling water at the touch of a button
With the Smeg carbonator, you can easily and quickly obtain sparkling water at the touch of a button. The CO₂ level can be individually and continuously adjusted by turning the central knob on the device. Depending on how often or for how long you press the knob, you can add the desired amount of carbonation to the water – from lightly sparkling to intensely sparkling, depending on your taste. The system works manually and without electricity, making operation particularly flexible and intuitive.

FAQ - Carbon Dioxide Maker
The CO₂ level of the SMEG sparkling water maker can be adjusted individually and continuously by operating the central rotary knob on the unit. Depending on how often or for how long you press the knob, you can infuse the water with your desired level of carbonation—ranging from lightly sparkling to highly fizzy.
The more CO₂ is introduced into the water, the more carbonic acid is formed, resulting in a slightly acidic taste. This acidity arises because a small fraction of the CO₂ reacts with the water to form carbonic acid, which in turn releases protons and lowers the pH level. As a result, the water tastes fresher and more invigorating. The CO₂ content also affects shelf life: higher levels of carbonic acid extend the water's shelf life by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms.
