Smeg can look back on a long company history: in 1948, the Italian Vittorio Bertazzoni founded the Smeg brand in Guastalla, Reggio Emilia, a province in northern Italy that is still the company's headquarters today. Bertazzoni's family history goes back to the 19th century. The family originally worked in the blacksmith's shop and over the years began producing freestanding stoves. Today, Smeg develops electrical appliances and small appliances for the kitchen.
