Scratches on the cooktop are a classic problem. Salt or coarse sponges are usually enough to scratch the smooth surface during cooking. But our premium brands Miele, Siemens, Bosch, and BORA put an end to this and counter with special coatings that promise diamond-level hardness and durability. Find out which scratch-resistant cooktops performed particularly well in our tests here in the magazine.

Miele DiamondFinish
Miele relies on the brilliant DiamondFinish coating, which is twice as hard as that of a classic glass-ceramic cooktop and 95 percent more resistant to sand, salt, and dirt particles.
This finish makes the glass-ceramic more than twice as hard as standard materials, achieving a Mohs hardness of 9.5 – close to the diamond hardness of 10. Scratches from sand are reduced by 95 percent, and scratches from sponges by 70 percent.

Siemens diamondProtect
Siemens diamondProtect, also inspired by diamonds, makes cooktops like the inductionAir Plus extremely durable and easy to clean. This is because it is significantly less prone to scratches during cooking. The hard finish is particularly robust and also aligns with the trend for matte surfaces.
We dedicate a separate magazine article to the scratch-resistant Siemens coating: Learn more about the Siemens diamondProtect cooktop here.
Bosch GlassProtect
Bosch GlassProtect, based on SCHOTT glass, achieves a Mohs hardness of 9.5 and offers 95 percent better protection against sand and 70 percent better protection against abrasive sponges. Even sharp knives leave no lasting marks, and the surface retains its metallic sheen even with intensive use. Variants like Series 8 Matt Design reduce visible scratches by a factor of five.
BORA Rough
BORA integrates scratch-resistant cooktops through its elegant Matt Edition, the BORA Rough cooktops, e.g., the BORA X Pure Rough. The matte surface reduces light reflections for a calm, sophisticated look that complements modern or minimalist kitchens. Fingerprints, streaks, and light scratches are significantly less noticeable than on glossy cooktops.

Conclusion of the Test
Our conclusion in the test of scratch-resistant cooktops is: Bosch GlassProtect offers the best value for money for everyday use. Here you'll find affordable cooktops that exhibit solid durability. Those with a more design-oriented mindset should opt for a Siemens diamondProtect cooktop, which can also be integrated into a smart home system and is available with an integrated downdraft extractor. For a premium budget, we recommend a BROA Matt cooktop, which makes a design statement in any kitchen. A Miele cooktop promises long-lasting quality (with manufacturer tests indicating a lifespan of up to 20 years). However, you'll also have to dig a little deeper into your pockets for this.
