The perfect pizza oven: Bake pizza like in Italy
In Mykitchens Magazine, we have the best pizza ovens, pizza stones, and more accessories for baking pizza like in Italy.
Reading time: approx. 2 minutes
Anyone who's ever tasted a genuine Neapolitan pizza with a crispy crust and juicy topping knows: It's a huge difference from a classic oven pizza. The key to Italian enjoyment lies in the right pizza oven. Bring the perfect pizza oven home! In Mykitchens magazine, we showcase our favorites and a host of practical pizza accessories for baking.
Why do you need a pizza oven and special pizza accessories?
Conventional ovens usually only reach temperatures up to 250°C – however, a true-to-original pizza requires very high temperatures. Only then does the typical, airy crust with the characteristic dark "leopard spots" of a typical Italian pizza develop. A pizza stone can provide the necessary bottom heat. It draws moisture from the dough and makes the pizza particularly crispy.

Pizza accessories: Pizza stone, peel, and more kitchen tools for baking pizza

3 good reasons for a pizza stone
- Crispy base like an Italian: The pizza stone optimally stores heat and distributes it evenly to the dough. This makes the base wonderfully crispy on the outside and airy on the inside – just like in a pizzeria!
- Versatile: Not only pizza, but also tarte flambée, bread, or rolls are delicious on the stone!
- Easy to use: Simply preheat the stone, place the pizza on the pizza peel, and enjoy in just a few minutes!
How to Make the Perfect Pizza in the Oven
- Set the oven to the highest possible temperature (usually 250–300°C) and let it preheat for at least 30–45 minutes. This creates the intense heat that ensures a crispy base and a light and moist crust. Choose top/bottom heat instead of fan-assisted heating to prevent the dough from drying out too quickly.
- Use a pizza stone, which optimally retains heat and transfers it directly to the dough during baking. Place it on the bottom rack and heat it along with the oven. This makes the pizza base particularly crispy.
- Roll out the dough thinly and don't over-top it so it bakes evenly and doesn't become soggy.
- The optimal baking time is 6-8 minutes at 250°C. With a pizza stone, 5-6 minutes is often sufficient. For an especially crispy crust and beautiful browning, you can use the grill function in the last few minutes – but be careful not to burn the pizza.
