For the end of 2022, Miele has a new innovation: the steam oven with HydroClean self-cleaning function. The Miele DGC HC PRO cleans itself with a catalytic function (similar to pyrolysis in ovens) and offers gentle cooking methods, such as steaming and combination steaming. It combines hot steam with traditional oven functions. But we don't want to give away too much. Miele Steam Cooking

Steam cooking is becoming an increasingly popular trend in modern kitchens. Using hot water vapor, food is gently and nutritiously cooked, preserving its color, texture, and nutrients. This is in contrast to traditional cooking methods in pots or pans, which can cause nutrients and flavors to degrade. However, steam cookers can be bulky, and many kitchens simply don’t have the space for them. That's where a steam oven, like the Miele Combi Steam Oven, comes in as the best alternative. It combines the benefits of gentle steam cooking with traditional oven functions—all in one appliance. In fact, with the Miele Combi Steam Oven, you can combine classic cooking modes, such as convection heat or top/bottom heat, with steam. This allows for even better results when baking or cooking.

How does it work? The Miele Steam Oven uses Miele DualSteam Technology, which evenly and quickly distributes hot steam throughout the oven's cooking space. Miele Steam Oven at an Entry-Level Price

In 2023, Miele is offering more affordable entry-level models for their steam ovens. For under €2000, you can get a top-quality Miele Combi Steam Oven, allowing you to steam cook food gently and efficiently. The Miele DGC Steam Oven uses a stainless steel pipe to draw in water from the door frame and then steams food with hot water vapor (70-100°C). Even at these entry-level prices, features like PerfectClean, Miele Taste Control, and other highlights are already included, ensuring you get excellent performance and convenience from the start.

Miele Premium Steam Oven

For a bit more, you can get the Miele DGC PRO Steam Oven, which also includes the HydroClean self-cleaning function. This steam oven cleans itself automatically, quickly, and without any effort on your part.

In addition to this extra function, the premium models of the Miele steam oven also impress with a full-touch display (M Touch or M Touch S). You simply tap or swipe over the text or symbol to select your desired options.

The Miele HydroClean Steam Oven

Baking, steaming, and combi-steaming all in one appliance – the Miele Steam Oven combines traditional oven functions with added moisture. You can manually adjust all settings (temperature, time, humidity level, etc.) or let the oven decide using over 200 automatic programs. After cooking, the only remaining question is how to clean the oven. For this, Miele offers the new HydroClean self-cleaning function in 2023. The automatic cleaning process uses a water-based cleaning solution to effortlessly remove even stubborn food residues from the steam oven.

Steaming

Steaming is a cooking method where food is gently and healthily prepared using hot water vapor. The steam surrounds the food, helping it retain more nutrients and vibrant color. For example, broccoli: when cooked in a pot, its color fades and essential vitamins are lost. However, when steamed, the broccoli remains bright green and packed with important nutrients. Steaming preserves both the appearance and nutritional value of food, making it one of the healthiest cooking methods.

Combi-Steaming

Combi-steaming is a method that combines hot steam with traditional oven functions, such as hot air and top/bottom heat, to achieve perfectly crispy results. With Miele’s combi-steam feature, foods like bread, rolls, and meat are especially crisp on the outside while staying tender on the inside. This combination of dry and moist heat ensures optimal cooking outcomes. In this mode, both the temperature (ranging from 30°C to 225°C) and the humidity level (from 0% to 100%) can be precisely adjusted, allowing for versatile cooking and baking options. This method is ideal for achieving professional results at home.

Climate Cooking

Miele’s Klimagaren (Climate Cooking) uses intermittent bursts of steam introduced into the cooking chamber. This technique is similar to traditional steaming, but with a key difference in the duration and timing of the moisture infusion. The Klimagaren function is particularly ideal for baking bread. The bursts of moisture help create a perfectly crispy, glossy crust while keeping the inside soft and airy. This method mimics professional baking techniques, resulting in bakery-quality bread at home.

Automatic Cooking

The intelligent automatic program leads you through a list of foods, allowing you to select your dish, and then it determines the ideal cooking settings for you. A major advantage of Miele's automatic programs is the ability to customize the level of doneness for many foods. For example, if you prefer your vegetables a bit crisper, you can select from various stages to achieve the perfect texture.

In addition to traditional oven functions, the Miele Combi Steam Oven also offers extra features within its advanced settings. These include programs for defrosting, blanching, and drying. There’s also a special setting for proofing dough, which creates perfect conditions inside the oven for bread or pizza dough to rise, all without needing to cover it.

Miele Steam Oven Cleaning: With HydroClean & PerfectClean

A special feature of the new Miele steam oven is the HydroClean self-cleaning function, which allows the steam oven to clean itself automatically. Until now, this self-cleaning function was only known in traditional ovens (e.g., pyrolysis). With the DGC HC PRO, you can now also enjoy easy cleaning of the steam oven.

How Miele HydroClean Works

The Miele HydroClean system makes cleaning the interior of the DGC HC PRO steam oven effortless. A foam mixture of water and the Miele HydroCleaner loosens food residues by softening and dissolving them from the surface. Even stubborn dirt is removed easily.

To clean, first remove the oven accessories and fill the liquid cleaner into the container at the bottom of the appliance. This automatically mixes with fresh water and is pumped up to the top of the oven cavity, where it is evenly distributed by a fan. This softens and dissolves the dirt. After repeating this process several times, the cleaning mixture is rinsed and pumped out. Then, a drying phase begins. If there are still food residues left in the steam oven, the Miele HydroClean cleaning can be repeated. It is generally recommended to use this cleaning function every three months.

The oven cavity in the Miele DGC steam oven is made of high-quality, durable stainless steel with the Miele PerfectClean coating. This ensures that fewer residues stick to the surfaces of the oven and trays, making cleaning significantly easier.

Another advantage: thanks to the PerfectClean surface, you can bake without using parchment paper, as food is less likely to stick to the baking tray.
